Define your application – what do you want the pumps to do?
A. volume (how much at one time)
B. flow rate (speed – how fast)
C. How often will you repeat this action – daily, weekly, monthly?
D. How accurate do you need it to be – ie, what is the error tolerance; do you need flow control?
E. What is the distance from the source container to the use position?
F. How much height between the source container and the use position?
G. Is the use indoors or outdoors? What is the temperature of the use?
H. Does your safety system require grounding of equipment in use with flammable liquids?
Next, think about the mechanical characteristics you’d like in for your system. here are some choices.
1. Positive displacement – constant flow a. Rotary b. Pressure (GT pumps)
2. Suction and Lift aka Draw pump (pulse)
3. Siphon
